A section of Santa Rosa County shellfish harvesting waters has reopened after recent testing showed the area meets safety standards.
East Bay Area Reopens
Area #0232 East Bay in the Santa Rosa Shellfish Harvest Area reopened at sunrise on Aug. 8, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The area had previously closed because of elevated fecal coliform counts.
Water Testing Shows Area Is Safe
Recent water tests showed that the area now meets National Shellfish Sanitation Program standards.
The reopening allows shellfish harvesting in the affected area. For this notice, shellfish includes oysters, clams, and mussels.
Scallops, shrimp, and crabs are not included in the shellfish designation for this notice.
