30A renters weigh in on the best vacation rental bed setup

A recent online discussion about short-term rental bed configurations on 30A sparked a debate over what guests really want in a vacation home.

King Beds Get the Most Love

The original question asked renters to choose between two layouts: three king beds, one queen, and a bunk room, or two king beds, one queen, two full beds, and a bunk room.

Many commenters favored the first option because adults in their group prefer king beds. Several said they actively look for rentals with as many king beds as possible.

For some families, even children would rather share a king than sleep in a queen. Others said having enough king beds for the adults in the group would influence their rental decision.

Sleeping Capacity Still Matters

Not everyone chose the king-heavy option.

Some renters preferred the second layout because the additional full beds offer more sleeping space. One commenter said they would choose it for a group with two adults and four children.

The conversation also showed how much preferences depend on the group. Families with several children may prioritize extra beds, while groups of couples may care more about king beds.

Bathrooms also entered the discussion. More sleeping space may not be as appealing if a home does not have enough bathrooms for the number of guests.

Bunk Rooms Divide Renters

Bunk rooms also received mixed reactions.

Some families consider them a useful feature for children, while other renters specifically avoid properties with bunk rooms.

One commenter said their group prefers traditional bedrooms instead.

Another suggested convertible twin-to-king beds as a flexible option. With the right setup, two twins can function as a king when needed.

Overall, the discussion suggests that 30A renters have different priorities, but king beds remain a popular feature among adult guests. For rental owners, the ideal setup may depend on the types of groups a property aims to attract.
