A Panama City man got an unexpected surprise when the buyer for his Facebook Marketplace guitar turned out to be country music star Riley Green.
Facebook Marketplace Sale Takes an Unexpected Turn
Shane Allen, owner of Front Beach Softwash LLC in Panama City, decided to sell his Gibson J-45 on Facebook Marketplace.
Allen said he was reluctant to part with the guitar but listed it anyway. When he arrived at the agreed meeting spot, he discovered that the interested buyer was Green himself.
Riley Green Shows Up to Buy the Guitar
Allen said Green could have sent someone else to pick up the guitar. Instead, the country singer met him in person and took a look at the Gibson J-45.
The unexpected meeting made Allen feel better about selling the instrument. He said he hopes to see Green playing the guitar on tour.
Green is known for songs including “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” and “Worst Way.”
Another J-45 May Be in Allen’s Future
Although Allen was not initially excited about selling the guitar, the surprise buyer made the transaction more memorable.
Allen said he plans to own another J-45 in the future. Meanwhile, Green is currently on tour and is scheduled to release his new album, “That’s Just Me,” on Sept. 18.
