Aldi is officially coming to Destin, bringing a new grocery option to a familiar location by the end of the year.
Aldi Is Taking Over the Former Winn-Dixie
Aldi confirmed that it will open its first Destin location at 981 Highway 98 E. The store will occupy the former Winn-Dixie building at 98 Palms.
Winn-Dixie closed the location in April after serving the Destin community for more than two decades. Since then, construction crews have worked to prepare the building for its next chapter.
Aldi plans to renovate the existing space rather than build an entirely new store. The company expects the Destin location to offer about 12,000 square feet of retail space.
According to Aldi, the smaller store format makes shopping easier to navigate compared with larger traditional grocery stores.
The New Store Will Add Local Jobs
The new Destin Aldi will also create employment opportunities in the area.
The company plans to hire 15 to 20 full- and part-time associates. Aldi will also hire a full-time lead store associate for the location.

Aldi also plans to hold a grand opening celebration. The company will announce the event and official opening date as construction gets closer to completion.

Destin Becomes Aldi’s Sixth Okaloosa County Location
The Destin store will become Aldi’s sixth location in Okaloosa County, expanding the company’s presence across the area.

The new Destin location adds another option for residents and visitors looking to shop for groceries along the Emerald Coast.
